Washington, DC license
In Washington, D.C., there is no licensing exam for General Contractors, and you don’t need to prove prior experience. Instead, you must complete an application, submit the required documents—such as your business registration, proof of insurance, and other supporting paperwork—and pay the applicable fee.
D.C. offers two types of General Contractor licenses:
- Commercial Projects
- Residential Projects (it requires a Seller’s License in addition)
For the residential license, you’ll also need to provide a copy of your criminal record and pay the required fees.
If your company is registered in another state (a foreign entity in D.C.), you’ll need to obtain certain documents from your state of incorporation and pay additional fees before applying for the GC license.
We can guide you through the entire process and help you secure your Contractor’s License in D.C.
